TRENTON, NJ – DECEMBER 9, 2025 120 East State is proud to be the first in the state’s capital to host Revolutionary Lives: Living the American Experiment Then and Now, Revolution NJ’s traveling exhibition designed for communities statewide. The exhibit highlights the often overlooked stories of everyday New Jerseyans whose lives, labor, and choices shaped the Revolutionary era and continue to inspire civic engagement today.
The public is invited to the exhibit at 120 East State in its Fellowship Hall on the following dates:
- December 23rd 12pm – 2pm
- December 26th 12pm – 2pm
- December 27th 10am – 4pm
- December 28th 2:30 am – 4pm
- January 3rd 12pm – 2pm
- January 4th 12pm – 2pm
- January 5th 12pm – 2pm
Revolutionary Lives “offers residents a tangible connection to the values and experiences that defined the Revolution and illustrates how those ideals persist in our communities,” said Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way, who oversees the New Jersey Historical Commission in her role as Secretary of State. “Through this exhibition, we explore how the Revolutionary ideals of liberty, equality, and justice shaped the lives of New Jerseyans 250 years ago, and how they continue to inspire us today,” said Sara Cureton, executive director of the New Jersey Historical Commission.
Carrie Fellows, executive director of Crossroads of the American Revolution, added, “Revolutionary Lives gives people the opportunity to see how ordinary people who, through their everyday experiences, were caught up in making history — and ultimately contributed to creating our nation’s future. I hope visitors will be able to find commonality with these historic figures.”
Revolution NJ invites community members, partners, and neighbors to join us at 120 East State to experience Revolutionary Lives: Living the American Experiment firsthand and explore the stories that continue to shape New Jersey’s civic spirit.

120 East State (120ES) is a community-based, community-centered investment in the heart of Trenton. Through public and private funding, 120ES is transforming a building with a storied past, First Presbyterian Church of Trenton, into a multi use gathering place for the whole community, including a community cafe, cultural/performing arts venue, and events/program space. Serving Trenton and greater Trenton, 120ES will contribute to the vitality of downtown, provide needed jobs and services to Trenton residents, highlight the told and untold histories of this National Historic Register property, and create a Trenton-proud hospitality zone for visitors to our capital city.
