200 Years Later: Lafayette Returns to 120 East State

September 26 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Join us at 120 East State, with re-enactors Michael Halbert and Leslie Bramlett, to welcome the return of General Lafayette to the place where he worshipped on September 26, 1824.

Walk through our historic cemetery and visit the graves of those with whom he served in the Continental Army as they fought together for American independence 1777-1783, and be part of a wreath laying in their memory. Experience the sound of the historic bell Lafayette would have heard. Meet Hannah Till, cook to Washington, and hear about her relationship with these Generals of the Revolution. Tour the 120 East State building, view the American Friends of Lafayette and Oh Freedom! traveling exhibits, see tools women who followed the Army would have used, and hear about plans to restore this National Historic Register property.

Cemetery tour open to the public. Tickets required for pre-event lunch and building tour/discussion. This event is cosponsored by the American Friends of Lafayette and the DAR NJ State Society.
