Two Major Developments Help Accelerate 120 East State Street Steeple Center Project Forward

Mercer County awarded 120 East State a $2,000 from the Mercer County 250th Mini Grant to begin working on its interpretive plan and the State Legislature passed changes to New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s authority that will make it easier for 120 East State to obtain tax credits that will help it raise funds to continue the Steeple Center’s transformation.”

“These are two really important developments,” said 120 East State Street’s Molly Dykstra.xxx. “The county grant speeds up our planning and the NJEDA changes open the door to really accelerating our ability to secure the financing we need to transform this historic property into a community resource. This is real progress.”

120 East State will re-apply this fall to fund a substantial portion of The Steeple Center’s construction.

The Historic Property Reinvestment Program is “a $50 million competitive tax credit program intended to allow groups to take advantage of the federal historic tax credit program to support rehabilitation projects of identified historic properties.”
